| Introduction |
| The year 2000 was the start of three years of
sesquicentennial celebrations for Santa Clara. First, 2000 marked
the 150th anniversary of California's admission into the United
States. The year 2001 was the 150th anniversary of the founding
of Santa Clara University, and finally 2002 celebrated the 150th
anniversary of the incorporation of the City of Santa Clara.
