Volunteer Award for Warner Nash

Warner Nash was awarded a Certificate of Appreciation at the Junior League of San Jose’s 36th Annual Volunteer Recognition Luncheon in honor of his service to the Santa Clara City Library and Santa Clara County Historical & Genealogical Society.

Warner started his volunteer career in 1997 as an assistant to Genealogy Society’s bookbinder John Merriell, helping with the repair and preservation of some of the fragile and unique books in the Library’s genealogy collection. Warner now serves as the Society’s chief bookbinder and also helps the Library repair oversize atlases, some very old books pertaining to Santa Clara County history, and even a few of the automotive repair reference books.

To help him with his work, Warner created a 24” x 24” book press from scrap metal found on City streets during one of Santa Clara’s “Clean-Up Campaign” weeks, one of the more inventive ways to recycle and reuse discarded items.
