The Santa Clara Chorale will present two concerts this spring, beginning with a showcase of works by the great Renaissance masters: Monteverdi, Gabrielli and Schutz. "The Glory of Venice," featuring music of the Venetian Polychoral School, will be performed on March 14, at 8 p.m. at Mission Santa Clara, and on March 16, at 4 p.m. at St. Mark's Episcopal in Palo Alto. A brass ensemble will accompany the Chorale.
The Chorale’s season finale will be May 16, at 8 p.m., at Mission Santa Clara, when it will join voices with the Santa Clara University Choirs and a full professional orchestra to perform Johannes Brahms crowning achievement, the soul-stirring "Ein Deutches Requiem, Op. 45." The concert will also feature Brahms’ brief and moving work, "Schicksalslied (Song of Destiny) Op. 54," a rarely heard jewel for chorus and orchestra.
