| Santa Clara’s de Saisset Museum hosts "Eye on the Sixties: Vision, Body, and Soul: Selections from the Collection of Harry W. and Mary Margaret Anderson," through March 20, and from March 29 through June 15, 2008. The 1960s represent an important period of social, historical, and cultural transformation in the United States. Artistically, the decade signaled many dramatic changes as well, as artists searched for new modes of expression in the post-Abstract Expressionist era. This exhibition celebrates the artistic legacy of this decade in all of its dynamic diversity. Culled from the extraordinary Anderson collection, "Eye on the Sixties" includes paintings, sculpture, drawings, and prints by artists such as Joseph Albers, Robert Arneson, Bruce Beasley, Fletcher Benton, Bruce Conner, Helen Frankenthaler, Sam Francis, Jasper Johns, Robert Rauschenberg, Sam Richardson, Frank Stella, Wayne Thiebaud, William T. Wiley, and many others.
The Museum is open Tuesdays through Sundays, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission is free. Tours are also available to community groups and individuals. To schedule a docent-led tour of the exhibitions, call (408) 554-4528 or email rnadel@scu.edu. More information about the de Saisset Museum can be found online at www.scu.edu/deSaisset.
