| This summer the swimming world gears up for the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, China. As part of the competitive build-up, the Toyota Grand Prix series of swimming, a year long series of world class meets, heads to Santa Clara for the 41st Santa Clara International Swim Meet May 15-18. This premier national and international meet will be one of the final tune-ups before the United States Swimming Olympic Trials. Some of the finest swimmers from throughout the United States and the world will be competing in Santa Clara. Already committed are Michael Phelps, Natalie Coughlin, Tara Kirk, Ben Wildman-Tobiner, Brendan Hansen, Peter Vanderkay, Caitlin Leverenz, Matt Greavers, Whitney Meyers, Dana Vollmer, Mary Descenza, Jayme Cramer, and Ryan Lochte, plus top swimmers from Europe, South America, Japan, Canada, and Australia. Held at the George F. Haines International Swim Center, the invitational meet begins on Thursday, May 15 at 4 p.m. with distance events for both the men and women. Preliminaries begin daily at 9 a.m., with finals starting at 5 p.m. Beginning in April, advanced tickets can be purchased through the Santa Clara Swim Club website at www.santaclaraswimclub.org.
