Fire Administration Aide (479)
 
Education and Experience
Education equivalent to graduation from high school and completion of fifteen (15) college semester units, and two (2) years full time public contact experience. An additional fifteen (15) college semester units may be substituted for up to one year of the full time public contact experience.
 
License
Possession of an appropriate, valid California driver’s license is required.
 
Typical Duties
Under supervision: assists with the coordination of repairs and maintenance for Fire Department buildings and equipment; purchases and delivers supplies and equipment; may assist in the gathering of information for reports; may assist in the resolution of citizen complaints; may answer inquires from other Fire Department divisions; performs counter and telephone service, answers inquiries involving routine departmental procedures, activities, and functions; enters and retrieves data from an on-line financial or personal computer following established formats; operates facsimile or other equipment used in requesting and transmitting records or other information; may receive, sort, distribute mail and file materials, using a variety of standard filing methods; provides clerical assistance to others; orders supplies; audits invoices; matches invoices to purchase orders; operates personal computer which utilizes word processing, spreadsheet, and other software applications; and performs other related duties as assigned.
 
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of: office practices and procedures, including filing and the operation of standard office equipment and correct English usage; and personal computer and application software. Ability to: use initiative and sound judgement within established guidelines; prioritize work and coordinate several activities at once; understand and carry out oral and written instructions; and establish and maintain effective working relationships.
 
Supervision Received
Works under the supervision of the Senior Staff Aide or other supervisor as assigned.
 
Supervision Exercised
May direct the work of part-time employees. May assist in the training of new personnel.
 
Other Requirements
Must be able to perform all of the essential functions of the job assignment.
