| Education and Experience |
| Education equivalent to graduation
from high school and completion of fifteen (15) college semester units,
and two (2) years full time public contact experience. An additional
fifteen (15) college semester units may be substituted for up to one
year of the full time public contact experience. Experience in public
speaking is desirable. |

| License |
| Possession of an appropriate,
valid California driver’s license is required. |
| |
| Typical Duties |
| Under supervision: plans,
develops, and coordinates the activities of the Residential Fire Safety
Program for the Santa Clara Fire Department; conducts inspections
of residential properties in order to identify potential fire hazards
and maintains the properties in compliance with all applicable codes;
provides fire safety information to the public through personal contact
with residents, students, civic groups, the media, and the public
in general; is responsible for promoting and participating in Learn
Not To Burn Program; responsible for maintaining accurate records
of all programs; writes clear and concise reports; responsible for
effectively utilizing all audiovisual materials; is responsible for
remaining informed of fire safety equipment and techniques; and performs
other related duties as assigned. |

a sufficient level to make presentations before large groups; write
clearly and concisely; gather, analyze, and present data clearly;
establish and maintain cooperative and positive working relationships
with all areas of the community. |

of the Fire Marshal or other supervisor as assigned. |

| May direct the work of part-time,
and/or seasonal employees. May assist in the training of new personnel. |
