| Education and Experience |
| Any combination equivalent
to graduation from high school and one (1) year of experience as an
Examination Proctor with the City of Santa Clara. |

| Distinguishing Characteristics |
| This is the supervisory classification
in the Examination Proctor series. Experienced proctors are assigned
to this classification on an as-needed basis, generally when examinees
number thirty or more. This classification is distinguished from Examination
Proctor in that the former is responsible for supervising one or more
Examination Proctor assistants. |

| Typical Duties |
| Under general direction,
supervises, assigns, coordinates and participates in the activities
of one or more Examination Proctors in administering various types
of City examinations. These activities include: counting and controlling
the number and use of examination booklets, answer sheets, and related
materials and supplies; collecting and transporting examination materials,
such as rosters, booklets, pencils, answer sheets and other items
to testing site, carrying such items by hand or through use of automobile;
assuring that testing facility is properly set up, rearranging tables,
chairs, and other equipment, if necessary; performing various checking
and clerical control procedures admitting examinees for testing; making
routine decisions within standard procedures established for administration
of examinations; reading necessary instructions to examinees; administering
examination by monitoring conduct of examinees and handling routine
problems as they arise; collecting examination materials from examinees,
performing routine clerical work involving counting; ensuring that
examinees comply with established City testing procedures; sorting
and packaging examination announcements and delivering material as
instructed. May perform other routine duties such as weighing candidates
for physical examinations, scoring some tests using basic mathematics
and checking skills, and assisting in the administration of various
types of physical ability or other skills tests; and performs related
duties as required. |

| Knowledge, Skills, and
Abilities |
| Considerable knowledge of:
City examination administration practices and procedures; routine
arithmetic operations such as counting adding, multiplying subtracting
and dividing. Good ability to: instruct and oversee the work of others;
apply routine clerical and arithmetic knowledge to assignment operations;
learn and apply routine and well-defined procedures in detailed clerical
work; establish and maintain effective working relationships with
others; carry out written and oral instructions; and pay attention
to detail in performing tasks and duties. |
