| Education and Experience |
| Education equivalent to completion of high school and four (4) years of experience as an automotive parts counterperson in an automotive or truck/equipment facility. Working knowledge and experience with a computerized automotive parts system (i.e. Faster, Triad, etc.) is desirable. |

| License |
| Possession of an appropriate, valid California driver’s license is required. Possession of a valid A.S.E. certificate for either Automotive Parts Specialist or Medium/Heavy Truck Parts is desired at time of application, and required at end of probationary period; maintenance of one of the required certificates is a condition of continued eligibility to hold status in this position. |

| Typical Tasks |
| Under direct supervision: maintains minimum levels of parts and supplies through data processing records and visual inspection, initiating purchase requests as appropriate to maintain minimum parts inventory; maintains systemized storage facilities insuring proper security for parts and tools; maintains a comprehensive record system on parts, tools, issuing accounts, and analysis records for quality control and warranty; takes periodic parts room inventory and establishes minimum supply levels on the basis of operational needs; advises supervisor of obsolete parts for turn in; issues parts on the basis of requisitions submitted by mechanics, supplementing orders with related parts in accordance with knowledge of normal wear process, sound repair procedures, and interchangeability of parts; maintains parts and parts room in a clean and orderly manner; and performs other related duties as assigned. |

| Knowledge, Skills, and
Abilities |
| Working knowledge of: automotive and heavy duty equipment parts, accessories, and tools; techniques of receiving, storing, and issuing parts and supplies; scheduling and record keeping; and local sources of supply. Good ability to: follow oral and simple written instructions; maintain records and prepare reports using a computerized equipment maintenance system; operate forklift and related material handling equipment; establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with other employees, departments, and divisions; write legibly and solve simple arithmetic problems; and lift and carry 45 lbs. of weight. |
