| Department Mission |
| The Department Mission is to serve our customers
and community through efficient delivery of public infrastructure
through City’s Capital Improvement program, permitting
private developments by maintaining and performing cost effective
repairs of City buildings and purchasing equipment and supplies
to support all City functions. |

| Functions |
| The Public Works Department is responsible for
the executive and administrative direction of the Engineering
Department, Building Maintenance, and Purchasing Division, including
administration of the Public Works portion of the City's capital
improvement program. The Director of Public Works represents
the department in matters requiring the attention and action
of the City Manager and City Council, administers long-term
public works policies and programs, and develops original concepts
to facilitate these programs. Implementation is then assigned
to the appropriate Public Works Department. The Department works
with the Street and Automotive Services Department to implement
the maintenance and resurfacing of City streets. |
