At the Senior Center, we provide many free services.  Please call the Front Desk at 408-615-3170 to make your appointments.  Some of the services include:      


Legal Assistance
Free legal assistance is provided by Senior Adults Legal Assistance (SALA). Specialties include: public benefits; long term care; elder abuse; housing; Medicare HMO, supplemental insurance, long-term care consumer disputes; incapacity planning; probate alternatives, and simple wills. You can schedule an appointment by contacting the Front Desk.

Dates: First and Third Wednesday of each month.
Time: 1:00 pm - 3:30 pm
Requirements: Intended for ages 60+

Income Tax Assistance
This free tax service assistance is sponsored by the AARP foundation in cooperation with the Internal Revenue Service throughout the year. AARP tax-aid volunteers are certified by the IRS to provide free tax preparation services.


Tuesdays and Thursdays through the tax season.

By appointment throughout the rest of the year.

Health Insurance & Medicare Counseling (HICAP)

HICAP offers information and assistance on Medicare related issues.   This service is provided by Sourcewise ( and is available on to anyone on medicare.

Dates: Tuesdays
Time: 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

Emergency Cell Phones Provision

Free cell phones can be obtained at the Senior Center for making 911 calls only.  Stop by the Front Office Desk to inquire about receiving an emergency cell phone.

Health & Wellness
Our Health & Wellness program promotes health and independent living by connecting Santa Clara seniors to services, information, and activities.  The Program’s Registered Nurses, in partnership with the Senior Center’s Care Manager, work on situation requiring an in-depth assessment or on-going support.

Care Management

Care Management empowers older adults to live at home safely independently. The care manager provides information,  support, and the advocacy needed to  make decisions about care and to gain access to resources. The care manager assesse needs, helps create an individualized care plan, and offers ongoing support to older adults and their families.


  • Intended for ages 60+ 
  • Appointments are made for:
    • In home assessment
    • Connection to community resources
    • Service coordination with community resources



Information Referral for Seniors (IRFS)

IRFS assists seniors with facing the challenges of getting older. IRFS volunteers are trained to provide information and assistance to connect you to community resources. IRFS appointments are free and available through the Senior Center Front Desk.

Dates:            Mondays

Time:            10:00 am - 12:00 pm  
  • Appointments are made for:
  • Community Resources
  • Community Services
  • Community Benefits: transportation; housing; food; healthcare; caregiving/family support; legal services; and social/educational activities                                                                            

Notary Service

Trusts, loan and/or mortgage documents are not eligible for this free service. This free service is done by appointment only at various times during each month. The signer must be present and provide government issued identification.

Dates: Second and Fourth Monday afternoon of each month
Time: 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm
Dates: Second and Fourth Tuesday afternoon of each month 
Time: 5:15 pm - 6:15pm
