In celebration and recognition of Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead), Mission City Memorial Park is partnering with the Santa Clara Library for a special evening featuring a community ofrenda, storytelling, hands-on crafts, and a showing of Disney Pixar’s Coco (PG). In theme with the movie’s story about family, our connections to those who came before us, and the importance of remembering them, this event aims to share uplifting children’s activities and offer an opportunity to learn about Dia de los Muertos. Our top priority is that everyone stays safe and respectful, and the movie will be shown in the open “Evergreen Section” of the cemetery that does not house graves.

Community Ofrenda
An ofrenda is a colorful altar created during Día de los Muertos to honor and remember loved ones who have passed away. Typically decorated with photos, candles, marigolds, food, drinks, and personal mementos, the ofrenda welcomes spirits back for a brief visit, celebrating their lives with love and joy.
Members of the community are welcome to bring labeled framed photos & other small mementos that remind families of their loved ones for the Community Ofrenda. Frames must be no larger than 5 x 7 inches. We ask the public to refrain from bringing candles, food or glass items.
The Community Ofrenda will be open to the public from Monday, Oct. 6 - Friday, Nov. 7.
Event Information:
- Free snacks will be available starting at 5 p.m.
- Churros and hot chocolate will also be available for purchase.
- The movie will start at approximately at 6 p.m.
- Children’s crafts sponsored by the Santa Clara City Library will begin at 5 p.m.
- Be sure to visit the Santa Clara City Library Bookmobile!
- We encourage everyone to bike, walk or carpool. Limited street parking will be available along Winchester Blvd. and Dolores Ave.
