News Release issued on Nov. 27, 2019

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – The City of Santa Clara invites the community to attend the 109th Annual Holiday Tree Lighting Ceremony at Central Park, 909 Kiely Blvd., on Friday, Dec. 6, 2019, 5-9 p.m.

Join us for open ice-skating sessions and community performances by Buchser Middle School, Santa Clara Performance Dance Team and Laya Arts Collective. Our special guest, Santa Claus, will be arriving from the North Pole around 5:30 p.m. with a procession of the Santa Clara dancers. Children will have an opportunity to take a picture with Santa and share their holiday wishes! Create crafts in Santa’s Workshop or purchase tasty treats from the community food booths.

This year’s Honorary Tree Lighter will be the family of Bill Shaddle. A public servant, Bill served the community he loved as a Parks & Recreation Commissioner, Civil Service Commissioner, and a founding member of Friends of Parks & Recreation while also volunteering his time in different community programs.

Experience wonderment as you watch the 90-foot tree light up the night followed by a spirited, winter fireworks show! Following the fireworks will be music from Bay Area headliner, Neon Velvet.

This Santa Clara tradition has been going strong since 1911. Come join us for a magical night.
