Local Updates on Coronavirus Outbreak

On March 11, 2020, the City of Santa Clara declared a local state of emergency due to the growing novel coronavirus, or COVID-19, outbreak in Santa Clara County. The City began providing only essential services as of March 17, 2020. The City is in regular communications with the County of Santa Clara Public Health Department, the County's Office of Emergency Management and other community partners in regards to the public health emergency.
Update 4/4/2020: In partnership with Bay Area community leaders, NBC Bay Area is hosting the COVID-19 Telethon on Saturday, April 4 at 7 p.m. to raise additional funds for our community’s most vulnerable. On March 23, more than a dozen public and private partners came together to announce the launch of an $11M Silicon Valley Strong COVID-19 Fund. Currently, there are more than 4,800 families on the waiting list for assistance through Silicon Valley Strong Fund, which provides direct financial assistance to low-income individuals who have lost work due to the COVID-19 crisis. The County of Santa Clara Public Health Department announced 54 new cases of COVID-19 in Santa Clara County, now totaling 1,148. County Public Health also reported one additional death, bringing the total to 39.
