Local Updates on Coronavirus Outbreak
To help you stay informed, the City of Santa Clara has created a webpage that will be updated as new information with a local impact becomes available: Coronavirus Updates.
On March 11, 2020, the City of Santa Clara declared a local state of emergency due to the growing novel coronavirus, or COVID-19, outbreak in Santa Clara County. The City began providing only essential services as of March 17, 2020. The City is in regular communications with the County of Santa Clara Public Health Department, the County's Office of Emergency Management and other community partners in regards to the public health emergency.
Update 4/3/2020: The California Department of Public Health is now recommending that the general public use reusable, non-medical cloth face coverings when outside the home and conducting essential activities. County of Santa Clara public health officials stated that medical grade masks are in short supply and our healthcare professionals need them to protect themselves while caring for patients. Also, the public has an opportunity to help support the Healthy Meals Santa Clara program by donating to the Mission City Community Fund. The Mission City Community Fund is a local nonprofit partner supporting the City's program that prevents kids in our community from going hungry. The supplemental meals program is also possible, thanks to assistance from the Santa Clara Unified School District, Spectra Venue Management and Levy Premium Food Services. Healthy Meals Santa Clara distributes weekend meal programs to children in Santa Clara at four locations in Santa Clara on Thursdays from 2-3:30 p.m.
The County of Santa Clara Public Health Department announced there are 75 new cases for a total of 1,094 confirmed COVID-19 cases and two new deaths for 38 total deaths due to COVID-19. For more information, visit County Public Health's dashboards.
