Local Updates on Coronavirus Outbreak

To help you stay informed, the City of Santa Clara has created a webpage that will be updated as new information with a local impact becomes available: Coronavirus Updates

On March 11, 2020, the City of Santa Clara declared a local state of emergency due to the growing novel coronavirus, or COVID-19, outbreak in Santa Clara County. The City began providing only essential services as of March 17, 2020. The City is in regular communications with the County of Santa Clara Public Health Department, the County's Office of Emergency Management and other community partners in regards to the public health emergency.

Update 8/3/2020: With the 2020-2021 school year for Santa Clara Unified School District scheduled to start on Monday, Aug. 17, the last day to utilize the supplemental weekend Healthy Meals Santa Clara program is this Thursday, Aug. 6. The final distribution of the Healthy Meals Santa Clara program will take place on Aug. 6 from 2-3:30 p.m. at the following locations:

  • Cabrillo Middle School, 2550 Cabrillo Ave.
  • Don Callejon School, 4176 Lick Mill Blvd.
  • Wilcox High School, 3250 Monroe St.

This supplemental program has been made possible thanks to the generous donations from the Santa Clara Unified School District, Spectra Venue Management, Levy Premium Food Services, Intel, California's Great America and the City of Santa Clara.

On Monday, August 3, the County of Santa Clara Department of Public Health announced 185 new cases for a total of 10,794 with no additional deaths for a total of 191 deaths due to COVID-19 in the county. There are nine new cases for a total of 530 confirmed COVID-19 cases in the city of Santa Clara. View the County Public Health data dashboard.
