Local Updates on Coronavirus Outbreak
To help you stay informed, the City of Santa Clara has created a webpage that will be updated as new information with a local impact becomes available: Coronavirus Updates.
On March 11, 2020, the City of Santa Clara declared a local state of emergency due to the growing novel coronavirus, or COVID-19, outbreak in Santa Clara County. The City began providing only essential services as of March 17, 2020. The City is in regular communications with the County of Santa Clara Public Health Department, the County's Office of Emergency Management and other community partners in regards to the public health emergency.
Update 4/5/2020: The County of Santa Clara Public Health Department is reporting 59 new cases for a total of 1,207 confirmed COVID-19 cases and no additional deaths. View County Public Health's dashboards for additional information.
Public health officials also caution that face covering is not a substitute for physical distancing. The public's best defense against COVID-19 is staying home and social distancing. They stress that , "if you must go out for essential outings, maintain six feet distance from people, cover your face and wash your hands regularly."
