SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Mayor Lisa M. Gillmor and the City Council invite the public to attend the 2020 State of the City events virtually this month. Due to the public health response to the COVID-19 pandemic, which bans large public gatherings, three virtual townhall events with two Council districts represented during each one will be held on June 17, 18 and 19.

During each session, Mayor Gillmor will deliver the State of the City address in which she will detail how Santa Clara is responding to the coronavirus crisis. Members of the Council will join her as well. City Manager Deanna J. Santana will provide an overview of the City of Santa Clara budget and fiscal impacts from COVID-19. City Clerk Hosam Haggag will serve as the moderator during the question & answer session in which the public can ask questions and make comments about City-related issues.

New for this year’s State of the City is recognition of community members and businesses as COVID-19 heroes for their efforts during the pandemic. The Mayor and City Council will hand out a total of seven Hero Awards for providing aid and services to the Santa Clara community during this public health emergency.
