On March 11, 2025, the City of Santa Clara and the Santa Clara Police Department (SCPD) will hold a convenient and well-publicized meeting to allow for community engagement regarding the Assembly Bill 481 Annual Report and Policy as required by law. The report will include a recommendation to approve the 2024 Annual Report as well as the continued use of the military equipment funding, acquisition and use policy pursuant to Assembly Bill 481.
The 2024 Annual Report is available online. The report includes:
- Purpose of the legislation adopted in 2021
- Definition of military equipment
- SCPD’s military equipment inventory
- SCPD’s acquisition and use policy (Policy #706)
- Planned acquisitions in 2025
- Chief's Advisory Committee comments on the report
