Treatment for Aedes aegypti Mosquitoes in the City of Santa Clara | Sept. 10

Post Date:09/09/2025 11:27 AM

Treatment map for Aedes mosquitos in Santa ClaraThe Santa Clara County Mosquito and Vector Control District will be conducting a neighborhood mosquito spraying treatment in a small section in the City of Santa Clara to lower the population of the dangerous and invasive, day-biting Aedes aegypti mosquitoes, known to spread diseases such as Zika.

Aedes aegypti mosquitoes were originally detected in this area last year and have been found again this year, prompting this treatment in an effort to control their expansion. Since mosquito eggs can survive our treatments, it is especially important to dump standing water on a weekly basis and scrub containers to prevent their eggs from hatching.

The treatment is scheduled for Wednesday, Sept. 10 starting at approximately 5 a.m. The treatment will last no more than two hours.

Treatment Details:

Cities affected: Santa Clara and Sunnyvale (near Amethyst and Chromite Drives)
ZIP Codes affected: 94085, 94086, 95050, 95051, 95054
