Beginning Monday, Feb. 23, the Santa Clara Valley Water District (Valley Water) will be performing levee maintenance work along the Guadalupe River embankments south of Tasman Drive to address damage that poses a risk to levee stability and flood protection. The work includes levee surface compaction, localized erosion repair, and stabilization of disturbed areas through hydroseeding or straw cover.
Closure/Detour Schedule
To complete this work, the Guadalupe River Trail in Santa Clara and San Jose will be closed in two phases:
Phase 1: Closure of the Guadalupe River Trail East Side (City of San Jose)
- Limits: Tasman Drive to River Oaks Bridge
- Dates: Monday, Feb. 23 through Friday, Feb.27 (5 days)
- Hours: 7 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. (weekdays only)
- Note: Trail will be open outside of work hours
Phase 2: Closure of the Guadalupe River Trail West Side (City of Santa Clara)
- Limits: Tasman Drive to East River Parkway
- Dates: Monday, March 2 through Friday, March 20 (15 days)
- Hours: 7 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. (weekdays only)
- Note: Trail will be open outside of work hours
The work will be performed by Valley Water maintenance staff. Bicycle and pedestrian detours will be provided and trail closure signage will be installed prior to the start of work. Travelers are advised to use alternative routes where possible during the listed closure date and times.
