A previously closed portion of Jenny Strand Park will reopen May 22, 2026, following cleanup, inspection, and investigation efforts related to the discovery of pellets suspected to be rodent poison on May 11.
Parks staff immediately removed visible material and conducted multiple inspections of the affected area and surrounding park. Approximately 5,000 square feet of the park was temporarily closed during the investigation. Staff also inspected parks citywide following the incident, with no additional materials or related incidents identified.
The incident was reported to the Santa Clara Police Department. While no suspects were identified, the City takes incidents involving public safety seriously and will pursue appropriate enforcement action should additional information become available.
After multiple follow-up inspections, no additional pellets were observed and the City has determined the area is safe to reopen. We appreciate the community’s patience and cooperation during the temporary closure. The safety of residents, visitors, and pets remains our top priority, and we apologize for the inconvenience caused.
