At last night’s Council meeting, Prometheus withdrew their project proposal for the development at 2780 El Camino Real, known as the Moonlite Lanes Apartment Project, citing significant neighborhood concerns over the proposed construction of a five-story, 158-unit multi-family residential development with a parking structure, on-site amenities, landscaping and other site improvements. As proposed, the project would have required adopting a Mitigated Negative Declaration, approving a General Plan Amendment from Regional Mixed Use to High Density Residential; and rezoning the property from Community Commercial to Planned Development.
“The Council depends on hearing from the community on proposed development in the City and we sincerely thank those that voiced their concerns with this project,” said Santa Clara Mayor, Lisa M. Gillmor. “Any future proposal will need significant advanced community outreach so that there can be clear expectations earlier on in the project cycle.”
Additionally, the Council expressed a desire for a more holistic approach to the development of the entire Moonlight Shopping Center and to conduct community visioning meetings for future development.
