Cleo Stuckrath, a dynamic Santa Clara Senior Center volunteer, gathered a group of women together and formed the Santa Clara Women's League (SCWL) in 1983. Its purpose is to raise money for the Santa Clara Senior Center's Health and Wellness Program. The major fundraiser is "Showtime", an old fashioned melodrama, that was first produced in 1982 with community talent and volunteers. It has been a Santa Clara tradition for 32 years.

Last December SCWL members delivered delicious holiday meals to 60-65 Santa Clara seniors to spread good cheer to those in need. They also donate toys to a local school to help Santa Clara families enjoy a merry Christmas.

As another part of their community involvement and fundraising activities, the members of SCWL provide Opportunity baskets at the Santa Clara Historical Home Tour each December where we also serve delicious hot apple cider and cookies to tour participants.

The proceeds from all of their activities help us accomplish our goal of supporting Santa Clara seniors through the Health and Wellness Program at the SC Senior Center.
