Santa Clara Sister Cities

Building Global Relationships through Personal Connections

The Santa Clara Sister Cities Association is a nonprofit organization that is supported, in part, by a grant from the City of Santa Clara.

Santa Clara Sister Cities Association has relationships with four international cities:

Sister Cities

  • Coimbra, Portugal, established Aug. 4, 1972
  • Izumo, Japan, established Oct. 11, 1986
  • Limerick, Ireland, established Aug. 1, 2014

Friendship City

  • Icheon, Republic of Korea established August 24, 2019

The organization was established in 1972. Each year, SCSCA provides opportunities for both Santa Clara students and students from their Sister Cities to experience each other’s culture on a first hand basis. SCSCA has high school student exchange programs; a junior high exchange program with Izumo, Japan; and music and art exchange programs.

Councilmembers Kevin Park and Raj Chahal currently serve on the SCSCA board.
