On Sept. 21, 2018, City Manager Deanna J. Santana sent a letter to the local business community to provide information surrounding recent actions taken by the City Council relative to the findings of an independent audit of the Santa Clara Chamber of Commerce’s contracts for operations of the Santa Clara Convention Center and Convention-Visitors Bureau. In addition, the letter informs the businesses community of the Oct. 9, 2018 Council meeting, inviting public input on the Request for Proposal procurement framework for future operations of the Convention Center. The letter closes with the City’s commitment in the success of the Convention Center and the convention/tourism industry in Santa Clara as this industry benefits our local economy.

On August 13, 2018, the Santa Clara Business community received a letter acknowledging the City’s commitment to its strong partnership with the business community as we work together to accomplish the Council goal of promoting and enhancing economic and housing development and enhancing community engagement and transparency. It also references Council’s direction to staff to evaluate its contract management, audit, and procurement processes with various City services and the need to preserve the appropriate use of public funds and facilities. The letter provided information and facts surrounding recent actions taken by the Council relative to the review of the Chamber of Commerce’s contracts and the preliminary observations from the performance and fiscal auditor.
