Affordable Rental Program

Searching for affordable rental housing in the Bay Area can be difficult because housing is in high demand. As a result, low-cost apartments rent very quickly, and they can range from low-income, below-market-rate, or affordable prices. This page will cover new projects in the City, the Affordable Rental Program, and where else you can find housing.

Newest Affordable Housing Projects

These new projects may have upcoming openings for interest lists, waitlists, or applications for new affordable rentals. The following defines the differences between these common listing terms:

  • Application: the formal request to apply for an available unit.
  • Waitlist: This list is created to call applicants about any openings in the future when there are no available units.
  • Interest list: when you sign up to receive information about a property’s development.

For some properties listed below, the initial application period has since passed. Contact the leasing offices directly for potential openings. Their websites are linked in the sections. Please keep in mind the City’s local preference policy and virtual lottery system when applying.
