Development Review Process

The Planning Division of the Community Development Department reviews development applications to ensure they follow City plans, regulations and policies related to zoning, land use, community design, sustainability, subdivision law and environmental quality laws. The development review process includes evaluation of architectural and civil plans, reports, and application materials. These must conform to City regulations and consider public input at meetings of the Development Review Hearing, Historical and Landmarks Commission, Planning Commission, and City Council.

Note: Some projects are minor and may be approved through an administrative process without a hearing.
