Roald Dahl's Willy Wonka

Roald Dahl's Willy Wonka follows enigmatic candy manufacturer, Willy Wonka, as he stages a contest by hiding golden tickets in five of his scrumptious candy bars. Four of the five winning children are insufferable brats; the fifth is a likeable young lad named Charlie Bucket. The children must learn to follow Mr. Wonka's rules in the factory... or suffer the consequences.

Willy Wonka - Youth Production

Be a part of RJJT as we take audiences on a fantasy ride into the land of pure imagination! The delicious adventures experienced by Charlie Bucket on his visit to Willy Wonka's mysterious chocolate factory light up the stage in this captivating adaptation of Roald Dahl's fantastical tale. Featuring the enchanting songs from the 1971 film and new songs by Leslie Bricusse and Anthony Newley, including “Pure Imagination,” “The Candyman,” and “I’ve Got a Golden Ticket,” Roald Dahl's Willy Wonka is a scrumdidilyumptious musical guaranteed to delight everyone's sweet tooth.

Do you prefer to be behind the scenes? Are you interested in being on the running crew for a live show? We have many opportunities for anyone, ages 10-18, to be involved in the technical aspects of Junior Theatre productions.

Crew participants must be available for all listed rehearsals and performances. Plan ahead-check the Conflict Calendar before registering!

Roald Dahl's Matilda The Musical

Inspired by the twisted genius of Roald Dahl, the Tony Award-winning Roald Dahl's Matilda The Musical is the captivating masterpiece that revels in the anarchy of childhood, the power of imagination and the inspiring story of a girl who dreams of a better life. Packed with high-energy dance numbers and catchy songs, Matilda has won 47 international awards and continues to thrill sold-out audiences of all ages around the world.

Performances: March 20-22 and March 27-29

About Matilda

Matilda is a little girl with astonishing wit, intelligence and psychokinetic powers. She's unloved by her cruel parents but impresses her schoolteacher, Miss Honey. During her first term at school, the two forge a bond as Miss Honey begins to recognize and appreciate Matilda's extraordinary personality. Matilda's school life isn't completely smooth sailing, however – the school's mean headmistress, Miss Trunchbull, hates children and just loves to punish those who don't abide by her rules. But Matilda has courage and cleverness in equal amounts and could be the school pupils' saving grace!

Disney's Moana JR.

Adapted from the 2016 Disney animated film, the adventures of Moana and her village of Motunui come to life on stage. This thrilling and heartwarming coming-of-age story follows the strong-willed Moana as she sets sail across the Pacific to save her village and discover the truth about her heritage. Moana and the legendary demigod Maui embark on an epic journey of self-discovery and camaraderie as both learn to harness the power that lies within. With empowering messages of bravery and selflessness, Moana JR. is sure to bring out the hero within each of us.

Performances: July 14-16, 7 p.m. and July 15, 11:30 a.m.

Rent: School Edition

Set in the East Village of New York City, Rent School Edition is about falling in love, finding your voice and living for today. Based loosely on Puccini's La Boheme, Rent School Edition follows a year in the life of a group of impoverished young artists and musicians struggling to survive and create in New York's Lower East Side, under the shadow of HIV/AIDS. How these young bohemians negotiate their dreams, loves and conflicts provides the narrative thread to this groundbreaking musical.

Performances: July 31 and Aug. 1, 7 p.m. and Aug. 2, 2 p.m.
