Wipes Go in the Trash, Not the Toilet.
Flushing wipes or paper towels clogs sewers, causes backups and overflows at wastewater treatment facilities and creates a public health risk.
DO NOT FLUSH:
- ANY wipes*
- Medicine**
- Feminine hygiene products
- Disposable diapers
- Dental floss
- Paper towels
- Tissues
- Trash of any kind
*Wipes, including baby wipes, are NOT biodegradable; even those labeled “flushable” clog pipes.
**Flushing prescription or over the counter medicine hurts wildlife once discharged into the bay and ocean.
Do Your Part
Your toilet is for only human waste and toilet paper; use it accordingly to help:
- protect our local watershed
- minimize wastewater treatment costs
- keep sewer lines clear
- prevent sewer overflows which endanger public health
