Water Service Line Inventory

Lead and Copper Rule

We finished the inventory of Santa Clara's water service lines for Lead and Copper Rule Revisions set by the United States Environmental Protection Agency. Staff inspected meter boxes at more than 2,000 homes. No lead material was found.

The services that were not inspected were determined to not contain lead based on the following:

  • Nearness to locations that were inspected
  • Historical records
  • Pipe width greater than or equal to 4 inches or
  • Pipes installed after the lead ban

Water service line inventories were sent to the State Division of Drinking Water (DDW). It enforces the California Lead and Copper Rule to comply with the United States Environmental Protection Agency’s Lead and Copper Rule Revisions
