California law requires that the City of Santa Clara review and update its Urban Water Management Plan (UWMP) every five years. In addition, the Water Conservation Bill of 2009 required the City to adopt water use goals which would help contribute to an overall 20% reduction in urban per capita water use statewide by 2020.
