City of Santa Clara

The Board of Library Trustees is primarily responsible for the establishment, acceptance and continued supervision of the public library program.

It makes and enforces by-laws, rules and regulations for the administration of the public library; approves or disapproves the appointment of the City Librarian; accepts donations into the library fund (subject to the approval of the City Council); and contracts with other governmental agencies to render or receive library services (also subject to the approval of the City Council).

A calendar of meetings, updates, including special meetings and cancellations, meeting agendas, meeting minutes, recordings, and any post-meeting materials are posted online on Legistar. Below are some general details:

• When: Generally meets on the 1st Monday of each month at 6 p.m.

How Are Board Members Chosen?

The Board of Library Trustees consists of five members who are volunteers and are appointed by the City Council. To be eligible:

• You must be a resident of Santa Clara.
• You must be a registered voter.
• You may not hold any paid office in, or be employed by, the City of Santa Clara.
