FIFA World Cup Match Day Road Closures and Transportation Impacts
Safety and security associated with FIFA World Cup will require the temporary closure of public infrastructure around Levi’s Stadium on match days, happening in two phases.
Phase 1 Match Day Closure
Tasman Drive and the Stars and Stripes Slip Ramp will be closed. Two detours will be posted to support this closure. A Local Detour will be in place at the east and west ends of the closure and will utilize Great America Way, Great America Parkway, Lafayette Street, and Calle De Luna/Calle Del Sol to bypass the closure to the north. A Regional Detour will be posted in advance of the closures and will alert drivers to take alternative routes to avoid potential delays associated with the closure. The routes include the 101, 237, and local arterial roadways. Detour signage will be posted along the local detour route.
Phase 2 Match Day Closure
Tasman Drive and the Stars and Stripes Slip Ramp will be closed. Two detours will be posted to support this closure. Match Day Phase 1 will be adjusted to reflect the closure of Calle Del Sol to general traffic and the suggested use of Lick Mill Boulevard. Local resident and business access will be maintained. Posted detours will be provided along multiple routes to provide local residents and businesses with alternatives that are most convenient for them during the closure period. The Regional Detour will remain the same, providing alternative routes to drivers who do not have a local area destination.
Marie P DeBartolo Way will be closed from May 25 to July 3, 2026. Access to the areas east of the stadium will be provided via Stars and Stripes Drive.

STACT: San Tomas Aquino Creek Trail
Bike Detour
The San Tomas Aquino Creek Trail will be closed on the 6 match days during the FIFA World Cup. See the closure schedule below for dates and times. During this period, bike traffic will be detoured around the closure. Agnew Road, Lakeshore Drive, Gianera Street, and Stars and Stripes Drive will be the posted detour route to bypass the Creek Trail closure. Notifications will be posted at the trail connections at Agnew Road and Stars and Stripes Drive directing cyclists to the detour route.
Pedestrian Detour
The San Tomas Aquino Creek Trail will be closed on the 6 match days during the FIFA World Cup. During this period, pedestrian traffic will be detoured around the closure. A detour will be posted to use Mission College Blvd. and Great America Parkway to bypass the Creek Trail closure. Notifications will be posted at the trail connections at Agnew Road and Great America Parkway directing pedestrians to the detour route.

FIFA Men's World Cup Designated Free Speech Zones
To support lawful First Amendment activity during FIFA World Cup, the City of Santa Clara has established two designated Free Speech Areas in proximity to Levi’s Stadium.
These areas are intended to facilitate peaceful expressive activity while maintaining public safety, pedestrian access, and event operations. Individuals and groups are encouraged to utilize these locations to lawfully exercise their rights to free speech and assembly.

- Tasman Drive / Lick Mill Boulevard (East Zone)

The Bay Area Prepares to Host Six FIFA World Cup Matches at Levi’s Stadium

Visitors and residents are encouraged to plan ahead and use official, verified sources for information during FIFA match activity.
Key safety reminders include:
- Know your travel plan, including where you are staying, how you are getting to events, and alternate routes in case of delays
- Save emergency contacts ahead of time
- If you have an emergency, call 9-1-1
- If you do not have an emergency and need local information or services, call 2-1-1
- Expect changing conditions, including traffic, transit impacts, and weather variations across Bay Area microclimates
- Rely on official sources for updates and avoid sharing unverified information, rumors, or misinformation
During large events, people often move across county lines for hotels, fan events, dining and transit. While visitors travel, alert systems remain jurisdiction-based. Public safety partners are encouraging everyone to sign up for emergency alerts in the counties and cities where they will be spending time.
